How to add original cataloging In Follett Destiny: How to find MARC records in world cat:
  • What is a MARC Record and Why Is It Important? (Links to an external site.)
  • Follett Tag of the Month (Links to an external site.)
  • MARC Lite LOC Bibliographic Format (Links to an external site.)
  • Cataloging Basics from Canyons School District (Links to an external site.)
  • Adding Subject Headings from Canyons School District (Links to an external site.)
  • Click on Add Title (left-hand menu)
  • First, check to see if Follett has the title (if your district has Alliance Plus) by typing in the book title (can also search by author or ISBN)
    • Red school house means it is in the collection—you only have to add copies
    • A+ are the best records
    • Z records may be available. You may need to change some fields, but better than nothing
  • If no record comes up, click on Non-existent? Add the Title.  A blank MARC record will appear
  • Go to World Cat and look for the title: https://www.worldcat.org/ (Links to an external site.)
  • Use information from World Cat to create your record:
    • ISBN
    • Cataloging agency
    • Author
    • Title information
    • Publishing information
    • Physical description
    • Content, media, and carrier information
    • Book summary
    • Subject headings
